We have high safety standards for vehicles on the Lyft platform, which include meeting any city or state requirements.
If your vehicle needs an inspection, visit your state's information page to find your inspection form and nearby mechanic locations (if applicable).
Taxis, stretch limousines, and certain subcompact vehicles will not be approved for use on the Lyft platform.
Before applying to drive or moving to a new city, visit driver application requirements to find your new city or state and its minimum vehicle age requirement.
All Lyft vehicles are required to have 4 doors. Vehicles are required to have a minimum of 5 seatbelts (including the driver's), with a maximum of 8 seatbelts.

Rental vehicles must be rented through the Express Drive program to be approved for use on the Lyft platform.
In order to provide a comfortable rider experience, we don't accept certain subcompact vehicles on the Lyft platform:
- Chevrolet: Aveo, Aveo5, Metro, Volt
- Daewoo: Lanos
- Ford: Fiesta
- Hyundai: Accent
- Kia: Rio, Rio 5-Door, Rio Cinco, Rio5
- Mazda: Mazda 2
- MINI: Cooper, Cooper Clubman, Cooper Countryman, Cooper Countryman Hybrid, Cooper Hardtop, Cooper S, Cooper S Clubman, Cooper S Countryman, Cooper S Countryman All4, Cooper S Countryman All4 Hybrid, Cooper S Countryman Hybrid, Cooper S Hardtop

If you were approved to drive with a subcompact vehicle prior to Feb. 25, 2019, you're able to continue driving with your existing subcompact vehicle. You won't be able to add a second subcompact vehicle or replace your existing vehicle with a different subcompact vehicle.
